608 W. Central
Pittman House

608 W. Central - Pittman House - Part of this house dates back to 1859. It was one of only a few houses that weren't burned during the Civil War. This house was at one time owned by Louise Thaden, who was a highly successful female aviator in the 1920s and 1930s. Although Thaden owned the house, it was uncertain if she ever lived here. It is said that Thaden bought the house hoping to move back to the area, but her husband had other ideas. It was also owned at one time by former Mayor, Terry Coberly.
