In the 1940' and 1950's, this location was Drive-In Grocery & Market. It carried vegetables, meats, and fresh fruits. They stayed open till 10 o'clock at night. Some time in the 1950's, they were bought out by John (J.L.) and Maude Taylor who allowed people to purchase their groceries on credit. The Taylors lived in a house right behind the store.
When Pepsi was in major competition with Coke, the Taylors would give away free Pepsi on Saturdays. Larry Joe Rogers said he would hand out Pepsi to customers, and in exchange he could drink all the Pepsi he wanted. After doing that, he says he still can't drink Pepsi to this day. In the 1970's, this became Denver's Used Cars. It most recently was "The Patio". Today the building sits vacant.
The store was located where this newer structure is located today.
