Bentonville Casting Company
(Bencasco)

In February of 1953, the Bentonville Casting Company was organized. Their first project was to raise funds to construct a building to house Bentonville Casting Company, also known as "Bencasco." Once completed, the business employed about 20 people. The owner of Bentonville Casting was Duke Hendricks, it was later owned by Wayne Carlson. Bentonville Casting Company " Bencasco" was said to be one of the best paying places in town, but in the building the temperature would rise to over 110 degrees during the summer. The people who worked there would come home covered in black. After 11 months in business, Bentonville Casting was doing so well they added 35 employees to the crew. They were already planning to expand the plant by 1954. The business was open for more than 60 years. The building was recently razed and there is currently an empty lot where it was located at the corner of N. E. J St. and S. E. 8th St. Its address was 1019 S.E. 8th St.

Here is an aerial view of the Bentonville Casting Company as seen from the southwest. At the time this photo was taken, the building was way out in the country as shown. Today you would see S.E. 8th St. running on the south side of the building, and S.W. J St. to the east. Notice all the open fields in the background.
